You've put this beautifully Rosie. I am a massive dog lover and the physical pain you feel when they die does lessen over time, but it never really leaves you. They play such a major part in our daily lives that the space they leave is huge. Your heart expands to love the next dog(s), but the love for the lost ones doesn't ever diminish.
Sending warm thoughts to your daughter as she works through her grief for Queenie. I hope you have a fabulous holiday and we get to meet up soon!
Ah, that's so sad about your daughter's beautiful dog, Rosy. People really do grieve the loss of their animals. There is such a close attachment. I hope you all feel a bit brighter soon.
The surprise loss of one's bestest companion is shocking. It makes no difference if they're human, dog, cat, horse, whatever.
It cuts through one's soul like a knife through butter.
Even though it's six months since my late boy passed away and we have another little one in the house, I still grieve. But the pain is softer, as it is as time passes after the death of family or friends. Grief becomes a friend rather than an enemy.
Beautiful writing. Losing a pet is heartbreaking because they find such a big place in our lives. Sending best wishes to you and your daughter whilst you grieve and heal over time ❤️

Thank you, Jane. Yes, we must firm up that date to meet up when I return from Switzerland. I hope all is well in your world.
I get this so much. And I’m sorry about the loss of Queenie. Just from her picture I can tell that she was an extraordinary presence❤️
That’s very kind of you, Martha. Queenie was really very special. ❤️

So sorry. It’s like losing a child.
