Hello and welcome!
I am just coming down from a high. My first author book signing events went incredibly well and I am relieved they are now under my belt. They went better than I expected and although I was incredibly nervous beforehand, I soon realised that there was nothing to be nervous about.
Everybody who came along to the events were lovely, and genuinely interested in me as a writer, my writing process and, of course, the book. It was great to chat with so many interesting people and I found the interactions very enjoyable. Getting out there and meeting people is always a positive thing to do and I enjoyed promoting my novel first-hand more than I thought I would. I am not a naturally gregarious person and, although not shy, sometimes find putting myself out there quite daunting.
We generated quite a few sales which was, of course, a bonus. I felt incredibly humbled when people parted with their hard-earned cash to buy one of my books. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everybody who bought a copy.
I also gathered some more email addresses to add to my list so all in all, both events were a great success.
I was amazed at how many people said that they would love to write a book and congratulated me on my achievement, and I came home feeling incredibly proud.
As a first-time author, I realise that building an author brand is essential. Going forward, I will have to produce more books. This would be so much easier if I didn’t have to work, because finding the time to write is becoming more and more difficult. However, as with most things in life, to achieve something takes an enormous amount of effort and sacrifice. Of course, I could pack my laptop away and just concentrate on marketing and promoting The Mysterious Disappearance of Marsha Boden. Although I am incredibly proud of my achievement, I would love to do it all over again. Despite the challenges, despite the ups and downs along the way, the end game of having a physical book in my hands was, after all, what I set out to do. To have a clutch of books under my belt is, though, my ultimate goal. Hopefully, this will lead to me being able to write full-time.
This book is the best read I have had in some time, it gripped me from the beginning to the end. I read it in one day, I could not put it down. I can't wait for another one.
Reading reviews like this on Amazon spur me on and remind me why I should feel so proud of my achievement. The fact that people enjoy my book and have said that it’s brilliant, makes my heart sing. Two people told me that they read it in one day!
I enjoyed Rosy Gee’s ‘The Mysterious Disappearance of Marsha Boden’’ tremendously. The village setting is lovely and the characters are well developed and authentic. The story is very engrossing with a wonderful twist at the end - perfect!
Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting me on my journey to becoming a published author. Although I have achieved my dream, I realise that there is still a long road to travel. I need to gather momentum as an author, continue writing good books that are well-received and try to get as much exposure as I can. As an unknown author just starting out, however, this sometimes feels incredibly daunting.
I will keep on keeping on. If you have a writing dream, never give up. Keep writing, keep that dream alive and above all, keep focused. Even when things are not going well. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Perseverance is key.
Apologies for the short post but I am absolutely exhausted. I have another long week ahead of me with my legal secretarial job and editing my second novel, as well as keeping up the promotional work for The Mysterious Disappearance of Marsha Boden.
I hope you all have a productive week, whatever it is you are involved with.
Take care,
