ABTA announces its 10 Destinations to Watch in 2024 ahead of Sunshine Saturday
And my novel happens to be set in one of them!
Hello and welcome!
January is my least favourite month of the year. In fact, I dread it. After all the festivities have died down and the tinsel is packed away in the loft for another year, the New Year kicks off with one of the longest and dreariest months. I suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) which I wrote about on my Rosy’s Relationship Round-Up Substack which you can read all about here. This year, I am trying to be more upbeat and positive.
Here in the UK, it’s dark, cold and usually very wet although today, the sun is shining, which is slowly melting the thick icing-like layer of frost that has coated everything from my car to the hedgerows, giving it a definite Christmas card vibe.
Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I read the ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) article listing ten destinations to watch out for in 2024. Vying with such exotic and beautiful places as Mauritius and The Tyrol, I feel privileged and extremely fortunate to live in such a naturally beautiful place.
And if you haven’t guessed by now, it’s Shropshire!
Clun and the Clun Valley and the Shropshire Hills
ABTA’s 10 Destinations to Watch in 2024
This idyllic English county on the Welsh borders has some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes, towns and villages. Shropshire is not only a rural gem, it was also the birthplace of the industrial revolution.

You can pre-order your copy of my cozy crime novel set in a picture postcard village in Shropshire, which is available to pre-order on Amazon now! More information will follow as soon as I have it, but at the moment the release date is 1st May. So please help spread the word and let’s get as many copies pre-ordered as we can! Thank you.
Have a wonderful week, wherever you are in the world, and in my next post I will be sharing details of where you can buy my illustrated children’s book, Mr Tiddy’s Garden, which I am also very excited about. The release date for that book is sometime in March.
Take care,
Rosy.
Hi Lizzie. My novel is set in a fictional village which I named Little Twichen. Then, incredulously, I was driving down some back lanes one day and saw a signpost for a village called Twitchen! The village is (loosely) based on the village where I live, but again, fiction gives us authors licence to do anything we like - it's brilliant! I live not far from Ludlow, which is also featured in the novel but I have named it Mudlowe, as it is a fictional place although I am sure people will recognise certain places.
Oh no, I dislike January too. It sounds like you have some good things on the horizon, though, to help pull you through. And days are getting longer, slowly but surely. ❤️
